Shankar has more than 24 years of work experience in the financial services business of which he has spent over 20 years in the private banking and wealth management arena, researching markets and products and advising HNIs on their investment portfolios. His prior role was with HSBC, heading the Investment Advisory Unit for the Bank's Wealth Management business. He played a key role during his stint with the Bank in enhancing and shaping the quality of the Bank's wealth management platform and the range of product/research and advisory offerings to customers. Prior to HSBC he was with BNP Paribas Private Banking and HDFC Bank, during which he developed the earliest frameworks for researching pooled investment vehicles such as mutual funds and also helped design/co-manufacture bespoke investment ideas for clients.

Shankar is a Commerce Graduate and an MBA (Finance) from the ICFAI Business School (Mumbai). He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India and a Graduate Cost and Works Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India.
